The GB3TF Internet Gateway

Sysop: Dylan M1IHM          Back to Tech Topics INDEX

This is a brief introduction to the new Internet gateway that you may have occasionally heard over the last week on GB3TF.  Together with Martyn G3UKV, I have spent a bit of time contacting the RMC (Repeater Management Committee) to allow us a NoV (Notice of Variation) to the GB3TF licence to allow us to use it for Internet Gateway Traffic, I finally received the validation document two weeks before Christmas 2003.

To explain as easy as I can:- I have a 70cms transceiver linked via a PTT interface to my Personal Computer, which runs 'Echolink' software. This software is basically a Chat Room for Radio Amateurs, using the Internet all around the world, and at either end the link is transmitted via RF locally.  The gateway itself is completely user controlled via DTMF tones on your radio.

Here are some of the tones that you will need – and a few locations to get you started

00 – Random Node         01 – Random Link          02 – Random Conference

03 – Random User          08    System Status          * - Station Info
